This Sunday's Service 10:30 a.m.
May 20: Rev. Dr. Joshua Snyder. “Love Is Our Greatest Purpose.” These words from our Unison Affirmation strike at a concept that is the foundation to Unitarian Universalism: covenant. First Unitarian Church has spent this past year reflecting on our purpose and mission and the kind of impact we envision making in the world. One of the practical applications of this work is that the Board is working on new vision statements for the church. What are the implications this vision has for our congregation? It is an exciting time!
This Sunday – Adult Forum:
9:30 - 10:15 a.m. in Brunner Chapel
May 20: BBC's The Atheism Tapes features a series of six interviews with diverse but articulate atheists (or not). Discussion centers on elements of disbelief, Darwin, Designer, and ethical behavior. Famous atheist Richard Dawkins will be featured.
This Sunday - Faithful Dialogues:
9:30 - 10:15 a.m. in Room 25
May 20: "Conversation on Being: Karma." The Sanskrit word karma means “action,” so the effect of karma in our daily lives is a spiritual version of the principle of the interdependent web of all existence. Come share your thoughts and feelings about karma! Facilitators: Donna & Jim Curtis.
Next Sunday's Service 10:30 a.m.:
May 27: Rev. Dr. Joshua Snyder. “Free Faith Faces the Future Part 2.” President Peter Morales has articulated a vision for Unitarian Universalism called “Congregations and Beyond.” What does this mean? What are the factors in American religion that lend themselves to the growth or diminishment of liberal religion for the next decades. How might we react to these trends? Building on the sermon of the previous months we will explore these topics together.
Next Sunday - Adult Forum:
9:30 - 10:15 a.m. in Brunner Chapel
May 27: BBC's The Atheism Tapes features a series of six interviews with diverse but articulate atheists (or not). Discussion centers on elements of disbelief, Darwin, Designer, and ethical behavior.

May 27: "How I Came to Believe: The Healing Power of Flowers." Suzie Cornell will share the possibilities and joys of flowers as a spiritual practice. For Suzie, flowers never fail to invoke joy and a promise of more beauty to come! 2011-12 Faithful Dialogues conclude with Suzie’s discussion and will resume in September.
